Allegations of Sexual harassment: Who is telling the truth between Two British politicians?

Male politicians in Britain who like to have consensual sexual relationships with their female counterparts should think twice before engaging in these relationships.  Some male politicians have lost their positions because of inappropriate sexual relationships.  Others have lost not only their high positions but also have been prosecuted for such sexual misconduct.

The most recent male politician to be caught up in this sex scandal is the UKIP’s general secretary, Roger Bird.  Mr Bird was accused last week by Natasha Bolter, a UKIP aspiring election candidate, of repeated sexual advances.  Following this allegation the UKIP party has suspended him and launched an investigation into the case.

While this investigation is being conducted, Mr Bird has come out to refute Ms Bolter’s claim of pestering.  He is arguing that his relationship with Ms Bolter was consensual.  He has released one of the text messages sent to him by Ms Bolter during their love affairs to the press to support this argument.  This text message reads “ I love U and miss U and think U R sort of perfect”.

This piece of evidence released by Mr Bird, if proven to be true, is likely to influence the outcome of the sexual harassment investigation by the UKIP party.  It will result in the exoneration of Mr Bird and dismissal of the claim brought by Ms Bolter.

The implications of any such finding that Ms Bolter has lied over her sexual relationship with Mr Bird will be far reaching.  First, Ms Bolter will lose her political standing among voters and supporters, and will be out of politics.  Second, female politicians who are pestered by their male counterparts will be reluctant to report such abuse in the future because of the fear of being labelled a liar.  This will be a great setback to the fight against sexual harassment of female politicians by their male counterparts.

In a nutshell, male politicians having consensual sexual relationship with female colleagues should communicate with them in different forms.  They should communicate with their female colleagues using text messages in addition to verbal communications.  This will serve as a safety net against any false claims of inappropriate sexual conduct in the future.
